Workplace Learning and Engagement

We forget about 75% of what we have learned if it is not applied within 6 days so practical application is an essential part of successful skill development.

That is why Lean TPM implementation utilises Workplace Learning to blend training with practical projects in a way that helps adults to build on existing knowledge.

Workplace Learning is a cross functional team based improvement process that activates peer learning (If people want to know something the first thing they do is to ask a colleague).

Typically these are bite sized quarterly cycles during which small teams undertake specific improvement challenges to gain a deeper insight of the problem and develop and test countermeasures as part of the routine.

The outcome is accelerated adult learning, increased engagement with new ideas and the delivery of added value gains such as improved reliability, flexibility and problem prevention.

The video below provides an overview of Workplace Learning or download the PDF for a summary transcript of the video content.

Examples of Workplace Learning projects include:-

  • Reliability improvement
    • Asset Care
    • Maintenance Planning
    • Skill Development

    • Overall Equipment Effectiveness
    • Problem Prevention
    • Front line leadership
  • Manufacturing Project Management

How Can DAK Academy Help

Our support plans are designed to deliver practical gains over bite sized 3 month/90 day improvement cycles covering:

  1. Planning the Plan working sessions: Sessions setting out underpinning concepts and an assessment of current status against best practice standards to share knowledge, align priorities, generate improvement ideas and develop plans to apply new ideas.
  2. Training and Mobilisation workshops to develop improvement team understanding, identify the detailed trouble map and begin practical steps to deal with gaps and barriers to progress during the next 90 day improvement cycle.
  3. Implementation Coaching and guidance to develop skills, lock in the gains and transfer lessons learned.

support plan modules
